Cut the fish into darnes.Grind together shallots, chili powder, peppercorns, salt, turmeric, garlic. Make a fine paste and add lime juice into this mixture.
Smear this marinade over the fish andkeep aside for 1/2 hour.
Heat the oil in fryin pan and fry the fish until golden brown.
Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
In the remaining oil deep fry sliced onions. Serve with the onions.
