1 cup flour
1 egg
2-1/2 Tablespoons baking powder
Dash of salt
Small amount of milk
3 cups maple syrup
Instructions:

If you visit Vermont sugar houses, you will most likely be served dumplings.

Add just enough milk to thicken mixture. Shape into tiny balls. Let rise about 20 minutes. Set in boiling maple syrup. Cook over low heat about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
