Lila's apple cream coffee cake recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1-1/4 cups thinly sliced apples
Combine dry ingredients. Cream butter and 1 cup sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add dry mixture alternately with sour cream and mix. Spread 1/2 batter into a well-greased 9-inch tube pan. Combine the 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, nuts, and apple and mix. Spoon 1/2 apple mixture over batter, top with remaining batter, and then top again with rest of apples. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for about 40 to 50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and remove from pan. Cool completely before slicing.
