Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 ripe bananas
3 Tablespoons cold water
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Nuts, optional
Instructions:

Cream shortening and sugar together. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Mash bananas with cold water. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add the bananas to the egg mixture alternately with the dry ingredients. Add nuts, if desired.

Turn into a greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 5 minutes.
