Ingredients
Makes: 1 steak- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 (1 1/4-inch thick) strip steak, or more, at room temperature
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 10 mins | Extra time: 5 mins, resting1. Preheat your indoor dual contact grill to medium-high.
2. Combine chili powder, thyme, cayenne, white pepper, celery seeds, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl. Coat steak with oil, then season with spice rub, 1 teaspoon per side.
3. Place steak on the grill. Close lid. Grill for 5 to 8 minutes for medium-rare doneness, depending on thickness.
4. Take the steak off the grill. Let the meat rest 2 to 3 minutes to allow the juices to reabsorb into the steak. Serve.Note
Recipe makes a little over 1/4 cup of spice rub, enough for about 6 steaks.
