- Ingredients:
- 5 medium apples
- 1/4 cup granola cereal
- 1/4 cup chopped dates
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of orange juice
- 2 Tablespoons margarine or butter
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
Instructions:
Heat oven at 350 degrees. Core apples and cut one inch strip of peel around top to prevent spliting. Place apples in an 8-inch (2-quart) square baking dish. In a small bowl, combine cereal and dates. Fill center of each apple with mixture.
In small saucepan combine brown sugar, orange juice, margarine and allspice. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils, about 3 minutes. Pour over and around apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender, spooning brown sugar mixture over apples occasionally.
