Homemade beef broth recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg | lean meat |
1 | shin of beef |
2 ½ l | water |
2 tsp | salt |
2 | leeks |
2 stalk(s) | celery |
6 | peppercorns |
100 g | turnip, diced |
100 g | carrots, thinly cut |
1 large | onion |
1 clove(s) | garlic, minced |
1 | bay leaf |
1 tsp | dried thyme leaves |
Instructions
Place the meat and shin of beef in a large pot or saucepan. Add the water and season with salt. Cover and bring to a boil.Add all the remaining ingredients except the thyme, simmer for 3 1/2 hours. Add thyme 10 minutes before cooking time is up. Cool.
Remove the meat and bones from the pot. Strain the broth through a very fine sieve.
