- Ingredients Tomato Sauce
- One 2-pound, 3-ounce can of peeled tomatoes, mashed
- One 6-ounce can tomato paste
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- salt and pepper to taste
- Ingredients Meatballs
- 1 pound ground meat
- 2 slices bread, crumbed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper, to to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seed
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- dash cinnamon
- 1/4 pound butter
- Tomato Sauce
Tomato Sauce:In saucepan, combine tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic if desired, bay leaf, and salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and simmer for 1 hour.
Meatballs:Combine meat, bread, salt, pepper, cumin, garlic, and cinnamon. Shape into small sausages and brown in butter. When cooked, drop into tomato sauce and add any butter and drippings left in the pan in which the meatballs were browned.
This is excellent served over rice, manestra, macaroni, or mashed potatoes.
