Hazelnut crescents recipe details
Ingredients
300 g | flour, all purpose |
100 g | hazelnuts, ground |
70 g | sugar |
½ | vanilla bean |
250 g | sweet butter, very cold and cubed |
150 g | sugar or powered sugar |
Instructions
Blend flour, hazelnuts, sugar and the scrapped out vanilla seeds (save the vanilla pod to make e.g. pudding) on a pastry board.Add the cold butter on the dry ingredients, work together quickly into a smooth dough. Form dough into a long log with a diameter of about 3cm. Wrap in foil and refrigerate for 1/2 hour.
Preheat oven to 160° C.
Take dough out of foil, cut slices about 1cm thick and form quickly into little sausages. Place on a greased baking sheet and give the sausage a crescent shape. Bake on middle oven rack for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
Roll warm cookies carefully in the sugar or powered sugar. Makes about 60 to 70 cookies.
