Hawaiian style croute fromage details
- Ingredients
- 1 thick slice Hawaiian Portuguese Sweet Bread
- 1 teaspoon mayonnaise
- 1/8 cup cheddar cheese
- 1/8 cup Monterey jack cheese
- 1 slice fresh tomato
- 3 slivers green onion
- 1 teaspoon chopped macadamia nuts
- 1 Tablespoon guava sweet Thai chili sauce*
Lightly toast or grill bread on both sides. Spread mayonnaise, cover with both cheeses, and put under broiler until melted, but not browned. Add tomato slice and sauce, return to broiler until browned. We recommend individual shallow casserole dishes. Garnish with macadamia nuts and green onion.
*Sweet Thai Chili Sauce can be purchased at most Oriental stores; add rice vinegar and guava jelly to taste.
