Habanero bbq sauce recipe details
This barbeque sauce is sweet, tangy and spicy. It’s a great addition to ribs, chicken or pulled pork, and ESPECIALLY good on pulled pork sandwiches.
Ready in: 1 hour
Ingredients
Makes: 1 quart- 4 cups apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons dried minced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons dried mustard powder
- 1 teapoon seasoned salt
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons white pepper
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 4 habanero peppers, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 cups dark brown sugar
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 45 mins1. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan, and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to maintain a simmer, and cook 30 to 45 minutes, or until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. Whisk frequently as the sauce cooks to keep it from burning.
2. If you prefer a chunkier sauce, let cool and serve; If you are bottling sauce, strain, bottle and chill.
