Grilled salsa with sour cream recipe details
A fantastic, easy and tasty topping for grilled, buttered bread, all types of meats, or just as a snack with tortilla chips. Can easily be made more healthy by swapping in yogurt or low-fat sour cream, or adding chunks of pineapple, mango, etc. Or, do it up with a handful of shredded Jack cheese.
Ready in: 20 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 10- 16 ounces favorite salsa, fresh, canned or bottled
- 8 ounces sour cream or plain yogurt
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
- hot sauce to taste
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 5 mins1. Pour salsa into a colander into the sink and let drain for 15 minutes. Finely-chopped salsas will need a finer colander.
2. Heat a skillet on medium-high heat. Add the drained salsa and stir quickly and constantly, evaporating the moisture, about 3 minutes. Watch closely so as to avoid burning any garlic that might be present.
3. Remove skillet from the heat and add sour cream or yogurt. Combine well, then return skillet to medium-low heat, warming through. Taste and add salt, pepper and/or hot sauce to desired levels.
