A cake using fruit cocktail in a can.

Ingredients

Serves: 12
  • 3 (13 ounce) cans fruit cocktail
  • 1 box cake mix, yellow or white
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flaked coconut

Preparation method

Prep: 40 mins | Cook: 40 mins

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the fruit cocktail including the syrup, cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil. Mix well. Pour mixture into a greased and floured 9×13 pan.
3. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick when placed in cake comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Allow to cool about 30 minutes.
4. In a skillet, heat the margarine, pecans, sugar, and coconut. Stir while browning. Once browned, spread onto cooled cake.
