Great grandma's quick coffee cake recipe details
Not too sweet, but just sweet enough. This is vanilla-scented coffee cake just like my great grandma used to make.
Ready in: 50 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 15- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 30 mins1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan. (I use Pam(R) with flour).
2. Mix white and brown sugar together, then mix in the flour. When mixed real good add in the oil. Remove one cup of this mixture and set aside to use on top of the cake.
3. Add all the rest of the ingredients and mix on medium speed for two minutes. Then pour the mix into the pan and then add the cup you set aside by sprinkling it evenly over the top of the cake.
4. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
