Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/4 teaspoon fresh ginger or 1/8 teaspoon dry ginger
2 pears, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla
dry bread
chopped macadamia nuts
Instructions:

Heat butter in a skillet; add sugar and stir until melted. Stir in pineapple juice and ginger. Boil until slightly syrupy. Add pears; cook until tender for 5 to 10 minutes. Mix milk, eggs, and vanilla together; dip bread into mixture and brown in skillet. To serve, sprinkle confectioner’s sugar over French toast, add pear sauce, and top with macadamia nuts.
