- 1 cup thinly sliced celery
- 1/3 pound mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 1 (24 ounce) loaf round crusty bread, or 2 (1 pound) oblong loaves
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 5 mins1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add sesame seeds and cook, stirring, until the seeds are golden, about 3 minutes.
2. Take the pan off the heat, let cool, then stir in ginger, vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and onions. Reserve 2 tablespoons in separate dish.
3. In a bowl, stir together ham, water chestnuts, pea pods, celery, and mushrooms. Coat with sesame dressing (all but the reserved 2 tablespoons).
4. Slice off the top portion of bread loaf to form a 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick lid. Pull out soft center of bread, leaving a shell about 3/8-inch thick.
