Fried okra recipe details
Ingredients
500 g | okra |
½ tsp | salt |
375 ml | buttermilk |
300 g | cornmeal |
oil for frying |
Instructions
Wash okra and cut off top and bottom.Cut into 1 – 1.5 cm long pieces. Place in bowl and salt. Add the buttermilk and mix. Let stand for at least 15 minutes, then drain.
In a big freezer or paper bag add cornmeal and okra. Close the bag tightly and shake for about a minute to make sure okra is evenly coated.
Take coated okra out of the bag and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
