Ingredients1. All purpose flour (1c)
2. hot water (1c)
3. shortening (4tbsp)
4. orange zest (1tsp)
5. salt (1tsp)
6. white sugar (4tbsp)
7. vanilla extract (1tsp)
8. salt (1/8tsp)
9. cream (3tbsp)
10. confectioner sugar (1 1/2c)
11. shortening (1 1/2tbsp)
12. eggs (3)
Method of preparation
1. Take a saucepan; put orange rind, shortening, salt and 4 tablespoons of white sugar and 1 cup of hot water in it. Keep this mixture to boil and then mix 1 cup of flour in it. Cook it by stirring until the mixture becomes thick.
2. Take off the pan from heat and keep it to cool slightly. Add one egg in it and beat it well before adding another egg. Take a well greased square of heavy paper, press the dough on it in desired shape.
3. Take a frying pan of hot fat and then drop the crullers into the hot fat by turn the paper upside down. Fry them for about 6 to 7 minutes until they get puffed up and changes to golden brown in color. Then drain them on unglazed paper and sprinkle confectioner frosting over them.
4. To make frosting; take a bowl and beat 1 ½ tablespoon of shortening by adding sugar in it. Then add cream, vanilla and salt in it and mix it until it becomes smooth.
