Fish makhanwala recipe details
Ingredients
750 g | fish fillets, cut into bite-sized pieces |
2 tbsp | ghee |
2 piece(s) | onion, sliced |
4 clove(s) | garlic, minced |
400 g | canned peeled tomatoes (pelati) |
400 g | tomato sauce |
2 | beef tomatoes, chopped |
125 ml | whipping cream |
1 | lemon, the juice |
1 bunch(es) | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
For the curry mix: | |
4 | cardamom pods, slightly crushed |
2 tsp | coriander powder |
3 tsp | cumin powder |
½ tsp | cinnamon |
½ tsp | cayenne pepper, or 1 tsp black pepper |
1 tsp | garam masala |
1 tsp | salt |
Instructions
First combine the spices for the curry mix.Heat the ghee in a wide pan and sauté onion and garlic until brownish. Add the curry mix and the pelati, tomato sauce and chopped tomatoes. Cook for approximately 20 minutes, then add the lemon juice and the whipping cream. Simmer for another 15 minutes or longer until the sauce thickens. Add the fish pieces and simmer until the fish is cooked.
Sprinkle with coriander and serve with rice.
