- 6 eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 cups finely chopped figs (or dates)
- 2 cups chopped walnuts
- 1 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 Tablespoons melted butter
A guest from Seattle shared this family recipe with us and we have been baking them ever since….
Mix together eggs and both sugars. Add figs and walnuts and fold together. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and butter. Mix well and pour into a well greased and floured 9-1/2 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. These keep well in a tin for several days.
