Eleanor s chocolate brownies recipe details
Ingredients
20 g | cocoa |
125 g | margarine or butter |
120 ml | vegetable oil |
240 ml | water |
180 g | cake flour |
380 g | sugar |
1 pinch(es) | salt |
2 | eggs, beaten |
150 ml | buttermilk |
1 tsp | bicarb |
1 tsp | vanilla essence |
2 tbsp | cocoa |
3 tbsp | buttermilk |
3 tbsp | margarine or butter |
1 tsp | vanilla essence |
70 g | icing sugar, sifted |
Instructions
Boil together cocoa, margarine or butter and vegetable oil in 240 ml water, stir while boiling.Preheat your oven to 200 °C.
Beat flour, sugar and salt into the boiled, slightly cooled mixture. Shake eggs, buttermilk, bicarb and vanilla essence well in a Quick shake (or beat with a whisk) and add to the mixture. Mix well. Bake in roasting pan at 200 °C for 15 minutes.
Making the icing:
Boil together cocoa, buttermilk, margarine and vanilla. Slowly add 70 g sifted icing sugar.
Pour over while cake is still hot. Cut into squares when cool. Decorate with cherries and almonds.
Feel free to reduce the sugar a little if it is too sweet.
