Easy brisket taco meat recipe details
This is a simple and tasty way to make brisket tacos. This is how I make them to sell at my restaurant.
Ready in: 5 hours 5 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 10- 1 (5 pound) brisket
- 1/4 cup fajita seasoning (I use Fiesta(R))
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
- 1/4 cup beef base or….
- 1 large crock pot
Preparation method
Prep: 5 hours | Cook: 5 mins1. Season beef with fajita seasoning. Rub all over. You’re gonna want to sear the seasoning on the meat, so if you have to cut the brisket to fit the pan, do so. I usually cut into eight pieces and sear each on a skillet over high heat.
2. When all pieces are seared, put in slow cooker. Add liquid smoke and beef base. Add water till it reaches slow cooker lid level, then cover. If using broth, do not add water since water is already in broth.
3. Leave in slow cooker for 5 hours on High. Let meat get tender and full of flavor. I usually leave mine in for 10 hrs, 5 on high then 5 on low, but that’s me; the longer it cooks, the more tender it will get.
4. After 5 hours, take meat out. It should be tender and able to be split apart with fork. Shred meat by using two forks separating meat. You can leave fat in the shredded meat if you want. Some like it, some don’t.
5. Once meat is shredded, you can use to make tacos or store in fridge, or freeze. If you want, you can add salt and pepper to meat, but it should have plenty of flavor. You can also use broth to make a tasty gravy. Just take a cup out, add a tablespoon of cornstarch to the cup, then add back to pot to thicken.
6. I usually make brisket tacos like this: warm corn tortillas, brisket, grilled onions, queso fresco, and cilantro. I use a lime for flavor. Then I bite into the taco and smile!!!
