Ingredients

  1. Pumpkin (louki) – ½ kg
  2. Milk – ½ cup
  3. Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  4. Mustard seeds(rai daana) – 1tsp
  5. Cumin seeds (zeera) – 1 tsp
  6. Gram lentils (channay ki daal) – 1 tsp (boiled)
  7. White lentils (mash ki daal) – 1 tsp (boiled)
  8. Fenugreek seeds (methi daana) – ½ tsp
  9. Turmeric powder (haldi) – ½ tsp
  10. Bay leaves (curry patta) – 6
  11. Red chillies – 6
  12. Green chillies – 6 (chopped)
  13. Onion – 1 (chopped)
  14. Asafoetida (heeng) – 1 pinch
  15. Salt – to taste
  16. Oil – as required

Instructions

  1. Cut pumpkin into square pieces
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan
  3. Add mustard seeds, cumin, both lentils,fenugreek seeds, bay leaves and red chillies
  4. In the same frying pan add onion, green chillies and pumpkin
  5. Cook over low flame
  6. After 10 mins add red chillies, turmeric, asafetida and salt and stir
  7. After cooking for 5 mins add milk
  8. Keep cooking until milk dries
  9. Serve hot
