Crockpot jambalaya recipe details
Ingredients1. Boneless chicken thighs, cut into 2” pieces (1lb)
2. chopped onions (2)
3. chopped green bell pepper (1)
4. chopped celery stalk (3)
5. andouille sausage (1/2lb)
6. dried oregano leaves (1/2tsp)
7. cayenne pepper (1/4tsp)
8. Tabasco sauce (1-3tsp)
9. sugar (1tbsp)
10. minced garlic (3cloves)
11. crushed tomatoes, undrained (28oz can)
12. frozen fully cooked shrimp, thawed (1lb)
13. uncooked orzo pasta (1/2c)
14. dried basil leaves (1/2tsp)
Method of preparation
1. Take a large frying pan, cook andouille sausage in it until some of the fat gets rendered and throw out the fat.
2. Take a slow cooker, add all the ingredients except shrimp and orzo in it. Cover the cooker and cook for about 7 to 9 hours on low heat until the chicken gets cooked.
3. Now turn the heat to high. Add orzo in it and cook it for about 15 minutes until the orzo gets soft. Then add shrimp in it, mix it and then cover the pan. Cook it for more 3 to 5 minutes until the shrimp gets heated. Now it is ready to serve.
