Creme caramel french toast recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 loaf plus 1 slice raisin bread
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups light cream
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Our son Jeff gave us this recipe. It definitely is a favorite with our guests especially when it is served with French Vanilla ice cream.
In a saucepan, combine corn syrup, brown sugar and butter. Melt until smooth, bubbly and caramel starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. Pour mixture into the bottom of a 9 inch x 13 inch glass baking dish. Lay slices of raisin bread in the bottom of the pan, overlapping as you go.
Mix together eggs, milk, light cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Pour mixture over bread. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, then uncovered for 15 minutes.
