Codfish in mustard sauce recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg | potatoes, peeled |
600 g | codfish fillet, cut into 12 pieces |
1 | onion, chopped |
150 g | single cream |
1 tbsp | lemon juice |
80 g | bacon, thinly diced |
salt and freshly ground black pepper | |
6 tbsp | flour |
3 tbsp | butter |
300 ml | vegetable stock |
3 tsp | mustard |
6 tbsp | oil |
Instructions
Cook the potatoes in salted water until done. Drain, peel and slice the potatoes.Season the fish with salt and turn in flour until well coated.
In a saucepan, heat the butter and sauté half of the onions. Dust with 1 heaped tablespoon of flour and cook stirring for 1-2 minutes. Pour in the stock and the cream and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently. Season to taste with mustard, salt, lemon juice and pepper.
In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil and fry the bacon for 3-4 minutes. Take out of the pan and set aside. Add 2 tablespoons of oil into the pan and fry the potatoes until crispy and golden, turning occasionally. Add the remaining onions and cook for 2 more minutes. Return the bacon and season with salt and pepper.
In a pan, heat 3 tablespoons of oil and fry the fish until golden and crispy on both sides.
Serve the fish immediately, together with the fried potatoes and mustard sauce.
