Classic jewish noodle kugel the best ever recipe details
This is the classic noodle kugel that my mom always made for Shabbat dinner. It is incredibly easy to make and tastes so good! For best results, make the kugel the night before and put in the refrigerator. The next day, slice it with a knife and reheat in oven until warm.
Ready in: 1 hour 30 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 24- 1 (16 ounce) bag noodles
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar or Splenda(R)
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, or to taste
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 1 hour 15 mins1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Boil noodles (follow instructions on bag). Drain in a colander, then put in a large mixing bowl. Put the margarine directly on the hot noodles and mix until the margarine is melted.
3. Add the eggs, sugar, applesauce and vanilla extract, mix all together. Put noodle mixture in a 9×13 inch aluminum baking pan, and sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover the noodle kugel with aluminum foil.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for 1/2 hour, then uncover the kugel and bake for another 20-30 minutes.
