That old-school German taste with sauerkraut, apples, and plenty of butter, of course. This isn’t your light pork dinner but fit for Oktoberfest.
Ready in: 1 hour
Ingredients
Serves: 6
- 6 (8 ounce, 1-inch thick) bone-in pork loin chops
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 (14 ounce) can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
- 1 1/2 cups sweetened applesauce
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 5 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 45 mins
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and coat a 13×9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add pork chops and cook quickly to brown both sides, about 4 minutes. Transfer to prepared baking dish.
3. Stir sauerkraut together with remaining ingredients. Cover pork chops with the mixture.
4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until pork reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.
