Classic beef sausage lasagna recipe details
Classic lasagna made with ground beef and sausage.

Ingredients
Serves: 12- 1/2 pound lasagna noodles, uncooked
- 1 pound Italian sausage, removed from casings
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes, diced & drained
- 2 cups tomato paste
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 4 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
Preparation method
Prep: 25 mins | Cook: 45 mins | Extra time: 10 mins, setting1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and coat a 13×9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain & cool.
3. Cook sausage, ground beef, onion and garlic in large skillet over medium-high heat until onion is tender and meat is no longer pink.
4. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, 2 teaspoons salt, basil, fennel seeds, and pepper.
5. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for about 20 minutes.
6. In a small bowl, mix ricotta, egg, parsley, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt. In another small bowl, mix together Parmesan & Romano cheeses.
7. Spoon 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce into baking dish.
8. Layer 1/3 of the lasagna, 1/3 of the meat sauce, 1/2 of the ricotta mixture, 1 1/3 cups of the mozzarella, and 1/3 cup of Parmesan/Romano mixture. Repeat layers once.
9. Top with remaining lasagna noodles, meat sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan/Romano.
10. Spray a length of foil with non-stick cooking spray; cover lasagna with foil (sprayed side facing lasagna).
11. Bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for 20 more minutes.
12. Let stand 10 minutes outside of oven before serving.
