Cinnamon apple bread pudding recipe details
- Ingredients
- 6 slices cinnamon raisin bread
- 2 cups diced apples
- 1-1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
Lightly toast bread and cut into large cubes. Layer half the bread in buttered 8-inch square baking dish. Spread apples evenly over bread cubes. Top with remaining bread cubes. Heat milk and butter only until butter melts. Combine eggs, 1/3 cup brown sugar, lemon peel, salt, and nutmeg. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Pour mixture over bread and apples. Sprinkle with 2 Tablespoons packed brown sugar.
Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until set and knife inserted near center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold with ice cream
