Makes great Chocolate-Cherry Cake. I used Walnuts instead of Almonds and it tasted good. Works great with Frosting I (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Chocolate-Frosting-I/Detail.aspx)

Ingredients

- 1 2/3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Packed Brown sugar
- 1/4 Cup Cocoa
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/3 Cup Chopped Unblanched Almonds or Walnuts
- 1 Jar(4oz-about 1/2 cup)drained Maraschino Cherries SAVE SYRUP
- 1/3 Cup Vegetable Syrup
- 1 Teaspoon Vinegar
- 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 Cup Water and the Cherry Syrup that You Saved
Preparation method
Prep: 30 mins | Cook: 40 mins
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix Flour, Brown Sugar, Cocoa, Baking Soda, Salt, and Almonds with a Fork. Add Water and reserved cherry syrup to measure 1 cup. Stir syrup-water mixture and the remaining ingredients into Flour mixture. Pour into ungreased square pan, 9x9x2 inches.
2. Bake until toothpick insterted in the center comes out clean, 35-40 minutes.Cook Information Cleanup:
