Ready in: 45 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 12- 1/2 cup butter
- 8 ounce cream cheese
- 1 package Lipton(R) onion soup mix, or to taste
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 2 cups chopped pecans
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation method
Prep: 45 mins1. Cream butter and cream cheese. Add around 2/3 of onion soup mix, to taste.
2. Combine pecans and walnuts. Separate 1/3 of the nuts and chop very fine. Mix finely chopped nuts into the butter mixture. Stir in Cheddar cheese. Place in refrigerator for about 30 minutes to chill and make easier to work with.
3. Meanwhile, place remaining nuts on a piece of wax paper and cut two pieces of aluminum foil about 18 inches long. Remove cheese mixture from refrigerator and divide in half. Using your hands shape into a log about 6 inches long. Press down into nuts to coat and to make log longer. Turn a quarter turn at a time and press firmly to coat with nuts. When needed, use your hands to place nuts on ends and top to get an even coating of nuts. Continue turning and pressing until you have a log 12 inches long and as big around as a cracker.
4. Place on foil and roll up to seal. Repeat with remaining cheese mixture. Place logs in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
