- Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- Tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup lard
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup grated cheddar
- Melted butter
Instructions:
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in lard. Make a well and add milk (might need a little more milk, depending on consistency). Stir with fork until dough follows fork. Roll into ball. Roll out on cutting board with flour into a square (12 x 10 inches) 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 5 strips (each 2 inches wide). Layer like lasagna (one strip dough, brush with butter, then add cheese). Repeat until all 5 strips are done. Don’t put cheese on the top layer. Cut into squares and place on ends in muffin tin. Baste with butter. Fan out ends so when heated, the dough pulls apart and curls. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
