Cedar planked halibut recipe details
Halibut steaks barbequed on a cedar plank with a succulent butter and herb basting sauce.

Ingredients
Serves: 4- 4 halibut steaks
- 1 cedar plank
- pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 teaspoons herbes de Provence
- 2 teaspoons dry dill
- 2 teaspoons dry tarragon
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Preparation method
Prep: 40 mins | Cook: 30 mins1. Soak the cedar plank in water for approximately 30 minutes prior to using it for cooking. Place the halibut steaks onto the cedar plank and pepper according to taste with fresh cracked pepper.
2. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat.
3. In a small glass bowl, combine the butter, herbes de Provence, dry dill, dry tarragon, paprika, minced garlic, and lemon juice and microwave so that it becomes a liquid. Use a fork to stir the butter mixture and spoon half of it onto the halibut steaks.
4. Place the cedar plank with the halibut steaks onto the grill when BBQ is at approximately 375-400 degrees F. Cook for 20 minutes without lifting the grill lid and then baste with the remaining butter mixture and cook for another 10-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steaks or when fish flakes easily with a fork.
