Caramelized apple cake recipe details
Ingredients
500 g | flour |
150 g | sugar |
1 tbsp | sugar |
1 pinch(es) | salt |
40 g | yeast |
250 g | apple sauce |
1 medium | egg |
100 g | butter, melted |
1.2 kg | apples, peeled, cored and sliced |
50 g | walnuts, chopped |
½ | lemon, juice |
225 g | apricot jam |

Instructions
In a bowl combine the flour with 75 g of sugar and a pinch of salt. Combine the yeast with 1 tablespoon of sugar and stir until creamy. Add the yeast, apple sauce, egg and butter to the flour mixture. Knead until the dough is smooth and pliable. Cover and allow the dough to rise at a warm place for 45 minutes.Knock down the dough, roll out and line a buttered baking tray with the dough. Allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
In a pan, caramelize the remaining sugar. Stir in the apples and the nuts. Drizzle with the lemon juice. Allow to cool.
Spread the apple mixture over the dough. Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C for 25 -35 minutes.
Mix the jam with 1 tablespoon of water and heat, stirring, until smooth. Brush the cake with the jam.
