Buttermilk bread recipe details
Ingredients
350 g | wheat flour |
1 tsp | baking powder |
1 packet(s) | dry yeast, 7 g |
½ tsp | salt |
1 tsp | sugar |
300 ml | buttermilk |
25 g | butter |
2 medium | eggs |
1 tbsp | oat flakes |
Instructions
Grease and spread with oat flakes a half round loaf pan (30cm/12″). Mix flour with baking powder and yeast.Warm buttermilk, add sugar and salt.
Melt butter in warm buttermilk. Separate 1 egg. Mix the whole egg and yolk.
Beat egg white until stiff.
Add buttermilk and eggs to the flour and mix well. Fold in egg white. Fill dough in baking dish. Cover and let stand for 15 minutes. at a warm place.
Preheat oven to 200 °C.
Place a bowl with boiling water on the bottom of the oven. Bake for 35 minutes. Turn off the oven. Put the bread out of the baking dish and place it in the oven for another 5 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
