Broccoli, Cheese, and Bacon Pie

1/2 pound bacon
1/4 red onion, sliced finely
6 medium eggs
3/4 cup heavy cream
About 1 cup fresh broccoli heads, cut and steamed until tender
1/2 pound Swiss cheese, grated
1/2 teaspoon salt
Pinch of crushed red pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 10-inch quiche dish. Cook bacon, cut in small pieces, until crisp. Drain well. Cook onion in about 1 Tablespoon of the bacon grease. In a bowl, combine cream, eggs, broccoli, cheese, salt, red pepper, onion (drained), and bacon. Pour into dish. Bake until knife inserted in center comes out clean (about an hour). Cool 5 minutes before cutting.
