Bolognese pasta bake recipe details
Ingredients
2 | carrots, chopped |
2 stalk(s) | celery, chopped |
1 | onion, chopped |
1 | red chilli, chopped |
2 tbsp | oil |
500 g | beef mince |
2 tbsp | tomato puree |
100 ml | dry red wine |
100 ml | vegetable stock |
1 can(s) | peeled tomatoes |
400 g | small pasta |
salt and pepper | |
6 sprig(s) | basil, chopped |
125 g | mozzarella, sliced |

Instructions
In a saucepan, heat the oil and fry the minced meat until browned and crumbly. Add the vegetables and the chilli and cook stirring for a few minutes. Add the tomato purée and cook for another minute. Deglaze with the red wine and the stock and cook until the liquid has nearly evaporated. Add the tomatoes, cover and cook over low heat for 2-3 hours. Season to taste the sauce with salt, pepper and sugar. If the sauce is getting too dry, add every now and then a little water or stock.Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and transfer into a casserole dish. Add the sauce and the basil and toss. Arrange the cheese slices on top. Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C for 20-25 minutes.
