Ingredients
30 g | butter |
2 | onions, chopped |
1 | apple, peeled, chopped |
2 tsp | curry powder |
500 g | minced beef |
180 g | breadcrumbs |
1 | egg |
1 ½ tbsp | mango chutney |
1 tbsp | almonds, flaked |
1 ½ tbsp | sultanas |
4 | bay leaves |
180 ml | milk |
1 | egg, extra |
Instructions
Heat butter in a pan and add the onion and the apple. Cook, stirring, until the onion ist soft. Add curry powder and cook, stirring, further 1 minute. Remove from heat and cool.Combine curry powder, minced meat, breadcrumbs, egg, mango chutney, almonds and sultanas in a bowl and mix well. Spread this mixture into a greased ovenproof dish (with about 2 litre capacity) and top it with bay leaves.
Bake in preheated oven with 190°C to 200°C for about 30 minutes.
Whisk milk and extra egg in a jug. Pour over minced mixture and stir through with a fork. Bake further 30 minutes or until the top is brown.
Can be made one day ahead.
