This is tomato sauce at its finest. Unlike most tomato sauce where there are many spices, this tomato sauce is all about the rich taste of the tomatoes.

Ingredients
Serves: 8
- Meatballs-
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 1/4 cups seasoned bread crumbs
- Sauce-
- cooking spray
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 an onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
- 2 (28 ounce) cans whole tomatoes + same amount water
- 1 (28 ounce) can tomato puree
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can tomato sauce
- salt, pepper, and sugar to taste
Preparation method
Prep: 30 mins | Cook: 3 hours 15 mins
1. Preheat oven at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2. Combine all meatball ingredients in a large bowl. Shape into meatball size shape and place on baking sheet covered in tin foil.
3. Bake 25-30 minutes in the preheated oven.
4. Spray a soup size pot with cooking spray. Turn on to medium heat and add olive oil and onions. Cook for 5 min. Add paste + 2x the water. stir and cook down. Add tomatoes, sauce, puree and water. By now your balls should be finished. Season. Add seasonings and add meatballs to sauce.
5. Cook 3 hours, stirring every 15 minutes. Taste every so often and adjust seasonings.
