- Ingredients for Filling:
- One 8-ounce package cream cheese
- 1 egg, unbeaten
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- One 6-ounce package chocolate chips
- chopped nuts
- Ingredients for Batter:
- 1-1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup cooking oil
Filling:Combine filling ingredients except chips and nuts; beat until well blended. Stir in chips and nuts. Set aside.
Beat all batter ingredients until well combined. Fill muffin cups lined with paper baking cups 1/3 full of batter. Top each with heaping teaspoon of cheese mixture (divide and use all of cheese mix). Bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes. Do not overbake. Yields 2 dozen.
