Bharawan macchli recipe details
Ingredients
1. Herrings fish (4med.)
2. potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed (450gms)
3. cumin seeds (1tsp)
4. finely chopped green chilies (2)
5. salt (to taste)
6. grated ginger (1tsp)
7. onion (1large)
8. oil (for deep frying)
9. fresh soft bread crumbs (1tbsp)
10. water (2/3c)
11. butter (50gms)
12. gram flour (3/4c)
13. vinegar (1tsp)
14. lemon juice (1tbsp)
For garnishing:-
1. Lettuce leaves (4)
2. sliced lemon (1)
3. chopped coriander leaves (1tbsp)
Method of preparation
1. Take a frying pan, heat the butter in it. Fry onions in the pan until get golden brown. Add cumin, green chilies, ginger and salt in the pan. Mix all these together with the lemon juice, mashed potatoes and vinegar.
2. Take herrings fish, clean and cut it and then stuff with the potato mixture. Make batter by beating gram flour, water and bread crumbs in a bowl. Mix them until get smooth.
3. Heat the oil in the cauldron or kadai. Dip each fish in the batter and fry it until it gets golden and crispy on a moderate heat.
4. Now garnish the fish with lemon slices, lettuce leaves and coriander and then serve it hot. It looks nice as a side dish with non vegetarian menu.
