Ingredients

1 kg rump steak
500 g onions
1 tbsp tomato puree
1 tbsp cornflour
1  bottle of dark beer
salt and pepper to taste
vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Cut the rump steak into 2 cm thick steaks. Finely chop the onions.

Brown the steaks in the oil on both sides and then remove and keep aside in a bowl.

Pour the onions into the same pan and stir until slightly golden.

In a bowl add together the puree, salt, pepper, corn flour and beer.

Place the steaks in a deep pot with the onions in alternating layers, and then pour the beer mixture on top. It should be enough to cover the steaks. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 3 hours, or until the meat is tender.
