Beef in beer recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg | rump steak |
500 g | onions |
1 tbsp | tomato puree |
1 tbsp | cornflour |
1 | bottle of dark beer |
salt and pepper to taste | |
vegetable oil for frying |
Instructions
Cut the rump steak into 2 cm thick steaks. Finely chop the onions.Brown the steaks in the oil on both sides and then remove and keep aside in a bowl.
Pour the onions into the same pan and stir until slightly golden.
In a bowl add together the puree, salt, pepper, corn flour and beer.
Place the steaks in a deep pot with the onions in alternating layers, and then pour the beer mixture on top. It should be enough to cover the steaks. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 3 hours, or until the meat is tender.
