|For the meatballs:|
|500 g||minced beef|
|3 slice(s)||dry bread (crust removed), grated|
|2||onions, finely chopped|
|2 tbsp||tamarind chutney|
|3 tbsp||Worcestershire sauce|
|1 tbsp||mixed herbs (parsley, mint, marjoram, chives etc.), finely chopped|
|salt and pepper|
|For the batter:|
|150 g||plain flour|
Place minced beef in a bowl and mix well with the other ingredients, then form into 12 meat balls. Place the meat balls in a buttered casserole dish.
For the batter, sift flour and salt into a bowl, add egg yolks and half of the milk; beat until smooth and let rest for a few minutes, then stir in the remaining milk. Whisk the egg whites with a dash of salt until almost stiff and fold into the batter little by little.
Pour the batter over the meatballs and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 40 minutes until well risen and nicely brown.
