Ingredients

For the meatballs: | |
500 g | minced beef |
3 slice(s) | dry bread (crust removed), grated |
2 | onions, finely chopped |
2 tbsp | tamarind chutney |
3 tbsp | Worcestershire sauce |
1 tbsp | mixed herbs (parsley, mint, marjoram, chives etc.), finely chopped |
salt and pepper | |
For the batter: | |
150 g | plain flour |
3 g | salt |
2 | eggs, separated |
400 ml | milk |
Instructions
Place minced beef in a bowl and mix well with the other ingredients, then form into 12 meat balls. Place the meat balls in a buttered casserole dish.
For the batter, sift flour and salt into a bowl, add egg yolks and half of the milk; beat until smooth and let rest for a few minutes, then stir in the remaining milk. Whisk the egg whites with a dash of salt until almost stiff and fold into the batter little by little.
Pour the batter over the meatballs and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 40 minutes until well risen and nicely brown.
