Beef casserole with sauerkraut recipe details
Ingredients
600 g | beef, (shin or chuck), cubed |
500 g | sauerkraut |
1 kg | potatoes, peeled and cut in thin slices |
3 large | onions, peeled and cut in thin slices |
½ l | sour cream |
1 clove(s) | garlic, minced |
8 | juniper berries, crushed |
salt and pepper | |
paprika powder | |
1 tbsp | butter |
Instructions
In a large saucepan, melt the butter. Layer the potatoes, sauerkraut, meat and onions, starting and finishing with potatoes. Season each layer with salt, pepper and paprika powder. Add garlic and juniper berries. Pour over the sour cream.Cover and place into a bain-marie. Transfer into the oven and stew at 150° for at least 3 hours or until the beef is very tender.
