Ingredients
For the Caramel: | |
65 g | granulated sugar |
For the Custard: | |
1 liter(s) | milk |
100 g | granulated sugar |
1 pinch(es) | salt |
6 medium | eggs |
1 tsp | vanilla extract |
1 tsp | nutmeg |
Instructions
Place the 65g of sugar in an ovenproof 1.25 litre, 2¼ pint casserole dish and heat on the cooker top on a medium-high heat until the sugar caramelises. Allow it to cool and set aside.Preheat oven to Gas Mark 3, 170ºC, 325ºF.
In a bowl, whisk the all the custard ingredients together other than the milk, until well mixed. Pour in the milk but do not stir. Pour into casserole dish and place the casserole dish within a roasting dish part-filled with warm water.
Carefully move to the oven and bake for an hour or until set.
Allow to cool until warm and serve immediately.
