This is a summertime favorite. Traditionally a southern dish, this is a good recipe for picnics or pot luck lunches. This particular recipe is easy to make and takes little time to prepare.

Ingredients
Serves: 24- 2 small red onions
- 1 can anchovies
- 4 pounds cubed beef, pork or combination
- 1/2 cup chili powder
- 12 ounces tomato paste
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons dry mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 10 hours1. Liquefy onions and anchovies in a food processor or blender. Thoroughly mix all ingredients in a slow cooker and cook for 9 hours on lowest setting. When done, shred meat with two forks or an electric hand mixer. Cook at least one more hour and serve on hamburger buns.
