Banana sour cream bread recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2/3 cup butter or margarine
- 1-1/3 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups mashed bananas
- 2-3/4 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and bananas; beat until well blended. Sift together dry ingredients. Add alternately with sour cream to banana mixture. Stir just to blend. Add nuts, if desired.
Spoon batter into 9 x 5-inch loaf pan which has been greased and floured on the bottom. Bake in 350-degree oven for one hour and ten minutes or until tester is clean. Cool in pan 15 minutes before removing to a rack.
Can be made in 4 small loaves – bake 30 minutes or until tester is clean. (Sometimes guests take a small loaf home!)
