Balsamic vinegar shallots recipe details
Ingredients
350 g | shallots, peeled |
2 tbsp | olive oil |
1 tbsp | sugar |
1 tbsp | red wine, dry |
1 tbsp | balsamic vinegar |
1 tbsp | thyme leaves |
pinch(es) | salt |
Instructions
Heat oil and fry shallots for about 3 minutes. Stir in the sugar and stir-fry until the shallots are caramelized.Pour in the red wine and stir. Add thyme and salt and simmer covered for about 6 minutes. Add vinegar and cook for about 2 minutes until syrupy. Stir frequently.
Remove from the heat and allow to set for about 1 hour.
Serve as an appetizer with crusty bread or as a side dish.
