Baked onions in cheese sauce recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg | white onions, peeled |
60 g | butter |
30 g | flour |
1 tsp | salt |
500 ml | milk |
180 g | Cheddar cheese, grated |
Instructions
Preheat oven to 170°C.Cook the onion in boiling salted water for about 25 minutes. Drain well.
Butter a baking dish and place onions inside.
Melt the butter in saucepan and stir in flour and salt. Add milk, stirring constantly, and continue cooking until smooth and thickened. Add cheese and continue cooking and stirring until cheese is melted and blended.
Pour sauce over the onions. Bake for about 25 minutes.
